Burma Rights has been successfully implementing donor-funded projects focused on empowering frontline human rights defenders and local governance strengthening in Chin State, Sagaing and Magway regions.
Empowering Frontline Human Rights Defenders in
Sagaing Region
Burma Rights successfully concluded an intensive, four-day Advanced Digital Security and Operational Safety Workshop on 21 to 24 December 2025. The training brought together 20 (11 Male, 5 Female, and 4 LGBTIQ) dedicated human rights documenters, strike committee members, and community leaders from various townships, including Pale, Kantbalu, Kalay, Myaung, and Watt Let. The cohort reflected a strong commitment to diverse and inclusive representation, actively engaging women and LGBTIQ activists who are leading non-violent movement campaigns on the ground.
Empowering Frontline Human Rights Defenders in
Magway Region
In the face of severe operational challenges, Burma Rights successfully concluded an intensive, four-day Advanced Digital Security and Operational Safety Workshop. Held from December 25 to 28, 2025, the specialized training brought together 21 dedicated community leaders, frontline human rights documenters, strike committee members, and civil society organization (CSO) representatives from across Magway, Pakokku, Minbu, and Kamma townships.
Strengthening Local Governance in
Chin State
Local governance in Chin State faces significant challenges due to ongoing conflict, political fragmentation, and limited institutional capacity. The emergence of multiple governance actors including Ethnic Resistance Organizations (EROs), Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) administrators, and community-based organizations has created a complex and often uncoordinated landscape regarding authority and service delivery.
